The Facebook pixel can be a powerful tool for businesses interested in optimizing their advertising spend, building higher intent audiences to target their ads to and measuring customer actions on a website. The pixel is a small piece of code that gets added to a website, where it receives information about the actions people take on the site, such as viewing a product or adding an item to a shopping cart.

Businesses can use this information to measure the results of their ads more accurately and build Custom Audiences to target their ads to different segments of the website visitors based on their actions. As the pixel records more and more conversions on their websites, Facebook also gets better at delivering ads to people in a business’s audience who are more likely to take certain actions.
