What is the best way for us to use Zoom?

One of the quickest adaptions by businesses due to COVID19 is the implementation of Zoom for video conferencing.  At Treeti we have been using Zoom since 2017.  We have both remote employees and remote clients.  Whilst our main office is located in Darwin, we also have team members in country Victoria and Perth.  We have clients all across the NT as well as in almost every other state.  We use Zoom to stay connected.  Many meetings could easily be phone calls, however by using Zoom we have many advantages.

The main one – we get to see each other’s faces.  For staff members working alone, from home, the absence of interacting with people face to face doesn’t seem to make a difference at first.  However over time, the need to connect with faces is apparent.  We get so many social cues in our conversations from facial expressions and eye contact.  It really does make a difference to be able to see each other.  Sure we also see the persons cat run across the screen or child tugging on their arm for attention, but we get to make genuine connections.  This is even more important when having a frank conversation with someone where emotions can be high.  Beyond making genuine connections with our team members and clients, we love being able to share our screens.

Ever tried to explain to someone how to install their new email signature over the phone?  “click here, then here, no not there, here, you should be able to see a button, well I can see it…”  Over Zoom, things are so much more simple!  Take it another step and remote into the other person’s computer and use their mouse.  Problem solved!  Lastly, one of our favourite features with zoom is the email plugin.  This handy tool is downloaded from the Zoom website and allows you to seamlessly create a zoom link within a calendar invite.  No more creating the calendar invite, then opening zoom and setting up a link and then copying it across to the invite (or forgetting to make the Zoom link until the meeting has already started…). This tool saves time and is super easy to use!  For more tips on how to use Zoom in your business, contact Treeti and book in a time with one of our Digital experts.
